Zeta Pi Finishes the Semester Strong!

Hello Readers!
I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving break and is not ready to pull their hair out from stress! Only a month has gone by since the last post and SO much has been happened. Zeta Pi knows how to keep busy and have fun while doing so!

First off, CONGRATULATIONS TO THE PI PLEDGE CLASS ON BEING INITIATED! We are extremely thrilled to have them as apart of our brotherhood and we look forward to what they have to contribute to the fraternity.

As part of the pledge experience, one of the requirements is to make a "family tree" with of your Delta Sigma Pi family and present it to the big. It was a way for the pledges to see their family lineage and to see where they fall in the family tree. Pictured below is Kat Kendrick being presented her tree by her little, Megan King.

One of the most highly anticipated events of the semester occured on October 21 at Moriarty's Pub. DATE PARTY was a way for brothers to get dressed to the nines and have a fun time out on the town! The Social Events chair Bill McCann did a top-notch job planning the event, and it was definitely a night for all that attended to remember!

Another fun event that gave the seniors the opportunity to enjoy one another's company while sampling delicious cheese and wine was the Wine and Cheese Night hosted by the C8 girls Kaitlin McDermott, Katie Perst, Amy Failing and Maura Gilligan. It was a great way for the seniors to take a night off of Policy meetings and to enjoy one anothers company!

Brothers Laura Bienkowski, Mariel Edwards, Adrianna Exler and Annie Fritz are enjoying some Kerrygold and Franzia!

One way that Zeta Pi raises money to put on these fantastic events is by the way of the Delta Sigma Pi Guest Bartending at Bayou and Cactus in Manayunk! DSP's finest ladies come out to hand out shots and keep the beers coming for all of the thirsty and paying customers (and boy do they pay). Thanks to the VP of Fundraising Mariel Edwards, the Bayou event is one of our most high-earning fundraisers and without her organization and everyones enthusiasm, we would not be able to put on most of the events that we do!

Finally! Low and behold, the night pledges and brothers alike were anticipating since the beginning of the semester! Initiation was held on Friday November, 20 and as usual, our Chancellor Adriana "Nani" Exler did a superb job of preparing the initiation team and making sure the ceremony went as planned. Of course, the post-initiation festivities were a night for all to remember. It was a great way to bond with the new brothers and it was a fun time for all. Thank you Megan Kotalic for hosting the event!

Even though the semester is just about to come to a close, here are some of the events occurring for the remaining few weeks!

PRETZEL SALES AT THE NEXT HOME SJU BASKETBALL GAME! Support DSP by purchasing pretzels at one of the numerous pretzel stands located around the Hagan Arena!

Until next time!

October Events!

Hello Readers!!

Happy October! It has been an extremely busy and productive month for Delta Sigma Pi! Here is a recap of the many great causes that DSP has been involved with!
The 2010-2011 Delta Sigma Pi Executive Board

First and foremost, our fraternity has selected 17 well-qualified potential pledges for our upcoming initiation! The bigs and littles were paired up, and we are eager to see what the Pi Pledge Class has to offer!

Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a worthwhile and extremely important event that Delta Sigma Pi went pink and participated in is the ACS Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Center City, Philadelphia. 11 brothers took part in this event that raises money and awareness for breast cancer research. Great job ladies!

In addition to our "strides" against breast cancer, Delta Sigma Pi held a fundraising event at Poppy's Pizza, Santa Fe Burrito and even "guest scooped" at Maggie Moo's! We had a fantastic turnout! Numerous brothers, pledges, customers and even alumni brothers made their way to the popular ice-cream parlor for a tasty treat and to support their favorite business fraternity :)

Recruitment Week '10!

Hello readers!

This past week as you all know is RECRUITMENT WEEK! It has been an extremely busy and successful time for the Zeta Pi chapter! We had over 120 students take interest in our co-ed business fraternity at last week's Activities Fair, and just about half of those students are starting to prepare for their upcoming interviews. I'm extremely excited to see and get to know the upcoming Pi Pledge class! BRING ON THE PLEDGES!

(From L to R: Cory Hall, Kaitlin McDermott, Annie Fritz, Katie Perst and Stefanie Wills at the Activities Fair!)

In addition to Recruitment Week, on Saturday, September 11, the Zeta Pi chapter hosted the Delta Sigma Pi Eastern Regional Conference. Over 50 brothers from neighboring chapters including Philadelphia University and Penn-State University (just to name a few). We two keynote speakers including Tom Calloway and Gwendolyn from LECG-Smart who delivered a riviting speech about what employers are looking for and helpful interviewing tips. In addition to that, we had the opportunity to learn about how the other chapters carry out their numerous events and recruitment strategies through their Powerpoint presentations. Overall, it was a great success and a big thanks to all who had made the conference a success!

Hello 2010-2011 School Year!

What's up everybody?!

My name is Joe Kocher! I am the new Historian for the 2010-2011 school year! I just wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself and let you know my goals as a Historian and in the business world!

I am currently a sophomore, International Business major who is looking..I mean GOING to make it huge in the business world! Move over Donald Trump! I decided to pledge Delta Sigma Pi as a meek and mild, first semester Freshman looking to establish my roots in the Saint Joseph's University community. Mid-way through the pledging process, I was skeptical whether or not I wanted to continue. After a quick phone call to my dad, I decided that I was going to finish what I had started! A few short weeks later, I became a brother! Becoming a member of Delta Sigma Pi was hands down the BEST decision I made thus far in my college career. I HIGHLY encourage any business or economics students to look into pledging. You will be extremely pleased with what our fraternity has to offer.

Now that I am a member of Delta Sigma Pi's executive board , I want to become more involved in the hands-on,planning aspect of our fraternity. Whether its helping other executive board members with planning their respective events or going the extra mile to help a brother out, I want to have a more positive involvement with our fraternity! As the historian, I will be covering just about every event by taking pictures and blogging about the current happenings with our fraternity. I HIGHLY encourage you all to check back on this blog to stay updated with all of the wonderful events our fraternity will be running and involved with!

Today, September 9, 2010, SJU is having the annual Activities Fair. I encourage everyone to stop by the Delta Sigma Pi booth and pick up information about our upcoming recruitment events that will be occurring NEXT WEEK! Stay tuned!

Until next time!
Joe Kocher
